The Greatist Miracle
Easter, the day we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is the most spectacular miracle in the history of the world. It is the miracle of Jesus Christ rising from the dead, demonstrating a complete victory over Satan, sin, sickness and death. Jesus offers us an opportunity to live in a miraculous new way. Our world was changed because of the greatest miracle ever.
After the fall in the garden, we as humans found ourselves in dire circumstances. We were controlled by the evil forces of Satan without any hope of being reunited with our loving Father. The Father’s plan of sending Jesus as Lord and Savior changed the entire game. Through the work of Jesus on the Cross (including death, burial, and resurrection), the price was paid for all we can have today. Let’s consider how this miracle rescue plays out in our lives.
When we consider that Jesus was the fulfillment of the Passover Lamb, we begin to understand that the events of the Crucifixion were all about launching the New Covenant. At the Cross, when Jesus said “It is finished”, He was referring to the end of the Old Covenant. At the same time, The New Covenant which is so good that we will spend the rest of our days exploring the depths and riches of the miracle we have inherited.
We’ve come to love the phrase spoken by John the Baptist in John 1:29, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world”. Unlike the lamb in the Old Testament that God used to forgive sin, Jesus “the Lamb of God” actually takes away our sin. God has broken the power of sin forever through the work of the God man Jesus Christ—our miracle hope. We are the recipients of this new life and blessing.
As good as the above is, it is the Resurrection that seals the deal! Let me briefly explain. Galatians 2:20 says that we died with Christ. Jesus didn’t just die for us, He dies as us. Elsewhere it says we were buried with Him. But here’s the best part—when Christ was raised to new life, so were we. The Resurrection is about the new miracle creation—the new miracle life. Not only did Christ receive this miraculous new life when He rose from the grave, but so did we. It’s what Hebrews 10:20 calls a new and life giving way.
2 Cor 5:17 says we are new miracle creations that never existed before. Jesus didn’t just rise from the dead for us, but rose as us. Our old nature has been made new. Our old desires have been changed to new desires. We are born in the same pattern and likeness as our Lord Jesus Christ and Savior—an amazing miracle. Of course, we still have a lot to learn as we mature into all God has called us to be. However, what a miraculously wonderful journey it is.
Christ is the first born and we are created just like Him—we have been given a new miraculous identity. We have the same Spirit within and the same DNA. We are born of our Father in Heaven with new hope, new life, and new destiny—a miracle in itself. This new miraculous life is so good. It won’t always be easy but it will be worth it all.
How exciting to see what God’s great plan really is. It’s better than most of us thought. In fact, as we look back at the events of the crucifixion week, we see Jesus as bigger, better, and more beautiful than we’d ever imagined. What we actually see is a miracle! Thanks for being part of the family.
